The Orc - The Folk Orcs quarterly publication that wants to get you playing music together. In each issue of this publication there are at least two songs taken from the vast repertoire of traditional music that exsist in Britain and Ireland. There is some backround infomation about the songs followed by the lyrics, chords, rhythm guides, and an instrumental tune set out in standard notation as well as tablature for mandolin (or any other GDAE tuned instrument). There will also be parts for guitar and/or chicago tuned tenor guitar. There is a fiddle tune included too, set out in standard notation, mandolin (GDAE) tab and guitar tab. Mp3 files of the two songs and fiddle tune are available to download from the folk orc members area for free at folkorc.co.uk for you to listen too and play along with. In addition to this core content there are articles covering basic music theory and songwriting which include practical exercises for you to try. There is a section where we look at an aspect of britains folkore and customs appropriate to the time of year, a wordsearch (because what publication doesn't have a wordsearch?) and some silliyness.
