THE FOLK ORC REGULAR SESSIONS
The Folk Orc Regular Sessions are open to people of any age or ability who want to improve their playing, learn to play a large mix of mostly traditional folk music and be a part of an ever growing community of like minded people who want to play music for the pure enjoyment of it. The sessions are guided, music is provided for the songs with chords, lyrics, notation and mandolin tab. The best way to learn any instrument is to play with others and this is one of the best enviroments to do it in, you may find yourself feeling a little out your depth at your first session, but if you stick with it you shall find yourself playing along in no time. It is at times like this that it is worth remembering the Folk Orcs mantra: 'What's The Worst That Could Happen?'. There are also lessons and resources available on this website to help you along.
The Folk Orc currently runs three regular sessions, details below:
Please go to the Calender tab to see when the next regular session near you is.
Being an attendee of either regular session automatically gives you the oppurtunity to be apart of the Folk Orc Sessions Band. This is where we take the songs that we learn at the regular sessions and perform them to the public. We have played many of these gigs over the years at craft fairs, Wimborne Minster Folk Festival, Swanage Pirate Festival, Arne Forage Festival and Christchurch Music Festival to name but a few. These performances are great fun, open to all regular attendees of either regular session and are great way to improve confidence and ability.
